AANF Announces Inaugural Assyrian National Policy Conference
“Three-day conference in Washington, D.C. elevates community voices on politics and policies
regarding Assyrian diaspora”

The  Assyrian American National Federation (AANF) announced its
inaugural national conference, Assyrian National Policy Conference, taking place May 17-19,
2018 at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel-Crystal City. This conference will offer a unique
opportunity to bring together advocates, policy makers, thought leaders, change-makers, and
many others to discuss the issues that will shape the future for Assyrians living in the Middle
East and the diaspora.

“The intent for this inaugural policy conference is to re-engage the Assyrian-American
community living in the diaspora by placing the issues we face front and center in our nation’s
capital,” said Martin Youmaran, President of the Assyrian American National Federation.
“We are glad the conference will provide a platform for national, regional and local advocates to
debate and discuss foreign policy, international relations, and identify opportunities for
cooperation and continued growth from multiple perspectives.”

A cadre of national and international leaders will speak about topics ranging from the future of
minorities in Iraq, Nineveh Plain settlements, preserving Assyrian heritage culture, and much
more. The conference will also include breakout sessions and workshops to provide valuable
opportunities for individuals to collaborate on key topics, identify best practices, and share
innovative ideas from their local communities.
